Jonny be good. Real good.

readerinterview

Recently, Jonny, a reader and blogger, emailed and asked if he could write a post for CHEERUPNATION.

I thought “Why not?”  I’m all about keeping things fresh and exciting.   But, I insisted on one little twist:

I give him the interview treatment.

With one small difference.

Pictures.  I asked for pictures.  Lots and lots of pictures.  I LOVE pictures!  (They make words easier to look at.)  :)

Besides, I want to get to know my readers!  Go beyond the perfectly cropped thumbnail shot.  And I want you, the reader, to see what kind of fun people hang around here.

Jonny couldn’t have been a better first reader interview.  As his answers to my questions show: he’s one fun guy, definitely someone that will make you SMILE.

Enjoy!

Q: Johnny, please introduce yourself and use a picture because my peoples like
pictures. And please tell us why you chose this particular picture.

A. As much as I would love to be and look like Johnny Depp, unfortunately the only
similarities we share are a similar sounding name and ten toes a piece. However the
spelling of my name doesnʼt have that cool looking “h” floating around in the middle. Itʼs ok
Brian, I will let you off this time because we are friends, but unfortunately the next time I
will be force to cause you considerable physical discomfort – iʼm thinking a chinese burn or
something similar.

johnnydepp

An artist representation of what I would look like if I looked like Johnny Depp.

What I actually look like.

jonnyside

I know, not my best side.

jonnytongue

Possibly too much focus on the tongue region on this one. Nice effort with the manly
mustache I thought though.

dirtbike0001

Ok this one is good.

I chose this picture to inspire people. They said it was foolishness to attempt to ride a
moped down an unmarked, decidedly steep and incredibly unstable path while not wearing
any protective gear of any sort save for my trusty red cap and then attempt to hit at least
20 miles an hour before reaching the bottom.
As it happens, in this case they were correct…just after this picture the path gets a whole
lot steeper and my bike seemed to become a whole lot less well built then I had imagined,
the net result was not pretty but you will be glad to know that the red hat escaped
unscathed. The tree on the other hand was not so lucky…and the bike had seen better
days too.
Q. With CHEERUPNATION, one of my goals in cheering people up is to take pictures of
random stuff that I think is funny.  Do you have any funny pictures that you could
share and what inspired you to take them?  What are you most happy shooting?

A. Funny pictures huh? Hmmm. Actually I took an interesting one today.

Assuption College

I ASSUME this is a legit college and I ASSUME you get an education here but a very bad
choice of names for a school in any case.
Having had a quick scan through my archives it has painfully dawned on me that I do not
take enough comedy photographs, or if I do I have cleverly filed them away in a folder
called “Laugh Until You Pee” and then forgotten about them. I do however have a quick
snap shot of a panda chilling.

Panda Chill

Oh wait I got one, Batman fixing a tire. The downturn is hitting everyone hard it seems.

Batman

Q. On a scale of 1-15 [1-10 is overused] how happy would you say you are and what
things make you happy. If you have pictures all the better.

A. 16.23423. Did you not see that Panda chilling out, hilarious.
You and pictures, right hang on iʼll go back into the archives…talk amongst yourselves.

germany

I think this sums it up. What makes me most happy is people…and currently travel. I used
to date a German girl for a while, (the lovely young lady in the white trousers and grey top

in fact) and this is a social get together in Stuttgart. I also particularly like this picture
because it is one of very few that have managed to capture our good friend Patrick the
Spirit (the blurred one) who tends to disappear if you focus on him too long. Try it and see.

Q. Where have you traveled in the world? What places do you like most Is it true in
Tokyo you’re quite the celebrity.  Have you ever been to Kansas?

A. Err, all round Europe, through a lot of the States, I did a spell living in Shanghia, was in the
Carribean for a while…and just off the coast of Africa, I am currenly living in Bangkok and
will be traveling through India from January next year…oh and Birmingham. I have family in
Kansas but have never been even though I constantly promise to. It is possible that by
now I have been disowned by these family members. I think Tokyo likes the way my ears
twitch when I smile.
Q. Let’s say you’re having a bad day. What do you eat. Do you have a picture? in
case I want to eat it too? ;)

A. Here you go.

Breakfast

Wait…what, you said on a bad day? I thought you said what do you what do your eat for
breakfast. My mistake.
Q. If you wrote yoruself a letter describing where you’d be in five years and you sent it
to me what would it say?
A. Dear Johnny, (ahh drat…no “h”)
Good to see you have made it another 5 years, honestly I wouldnʼt have called that one,
not after that moped stunt you pulled. This life I have now is pretty good, I have a solid roof
over my head, three square meals a day and a just lovely view out over the courtyard
through the steel window bars. Wearing an orange jump suit every day can get a bit boring
though, not very creative…..

Thanks for the interview, Jonny.  And thanks for sharing the picture! I really appreciate you being so open.  You can find more of Jonny at  TheLifeThing and at a local wifi cafe near you.

Have a fabulous weekend, everyone!
